Construction Work   8. Peace Stones

Inauguration of the 22 new Peace Stones in the Area of Encounter of the Jerusalem Friedensmal (www.friedensmal.de) in Bensheim with Gunnar Kaiser (philosopher) on the theme of division in society. Further contributions were provided by the bard singer Eloas Lachenmayr, the dance company Artodance, Rabbi Mordechai Mendelson, singer Maria Kaplan and organizer Thomas Zieringer as moderator. At the Jerusalem Peace Memorial, “The Blue Flower” becomes a song of seeking and of coming home to the heart: on May 22, 2022, the bard Jens Eloas Lachenmayr sings of the inner seeker who sets out alone, finds companions and, together with them, passes through pain, forest and night until, in community, poetry and sound, a new hope opens.

On June 5, 2017, the Jerusalem Friedensmal is blessed by Rabbi Mendelson. He sets the turning point with the word Chai, which means “alive”, into the center of the Friedensmal (monument), into the “Blossom of Life”. Afterwards a heavy rain falls and later, after the rain, a rainbow can be seen in the direction of Jerusalem. It is a simple film with a subtle language. The art lies in the details. Pay attention, for example, to which words are spoken when the rabbi’s daughters are seen on horseback, and which words are heard when he sets the turning point into the center of the Peace Memorial: “sown in tears.”
